Sanofi World Cup Sponsorship Deepens Corporate and Community Impact

As the 2026 World Cup arrives in Boston this summer, Sanofi stands proudly as an Official Host City Supporter of the tournament in Boston. In that role, we’ve partnered with other major corporations and government officials to help bring the world's most-watched sporting event to the Greater Boston community we've called home for decades.
With nearly 5,000 employees across three Massachusetts innovation campuses in Cambridge, Waltham, and Framingham, our support of the local World Cup host committee is a declaration of our commitment to Greater Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The World Cup sponsorship is part of Sanofi's broader engagement with three historic milestones converging in 2026: America's 250th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of the biotech revolution, and the global celebration of sport. We sat down with Tanisha Sullivan, Head of External Engagement, Government Relations (MA) & Health Equity Strategy, and honorary board member of the Boston 26 Host Committee Board, to discuss what this moment means for Sanofi, for Boston, and for the communities we are proud to call home.
Q: Sanofi has been in Massachusetts for decades. What does it mean to be an Official Host City Supporter for the World Cup in Boston?
Tanisha: Our support of this event is deeply personal for us because Boston isn't just where we do business, it's home to around 5,000 employees across several sites from Eastern Massachusetts to Central Massachusetts. As the World Cup comes to Boston, we're not showing up as guests; we're showing up as neighbors who are proud to help our city shine on the world's biggest stage.
For us at Sanofi, supporting the Commonwealth during an event like this which has the potential for tremendous impact for our local businesses and communities is important. But also, what better stage to showcase the innovation happening right here? This is where we're at the tip of the spear of life sciences, really helping to transform the lives of patients and communities around the world.
Q: How does the World Cup sponsorship connect to Sanofi's role in America 250 and Biotech 50? How do you see the connection between science and sport playing out?
Tanisha: These three milestones tell one cohesive story about the relentless pursuit of common purpose. Massachusetts has always been where bold declarations become lasting legacies, from the American Revolution to the biotech revolution that began right here in Cambridge 50 years ago. Sanofi has been part of that biotech story from the beginning through our Genzyme roots.
There are a lot of synergies between what we see on the fútbol pitch and what we see in science labs every day at Sanofi. What makes a great team in both is collaboration, leveraging failure for growth, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Every athlete on the pitch is chasing a dream, and so is every scientist in our labs.
At Sanofi, we chase the miracles of science so people can chase their dreams. The World Cup brings global attention to Massachusetts during a year when we're celebrating all three of these historic moments. It's the perfect stage to showcase how innovation and human potential continue to define this region.

Q: What specific impact will Sanofi's World Cup involvement have on Boston communities?
Tanisha: While the World Cup will bring incredible energy to Greater Boston, we're intentional about building a lasting legacy.
To help support open space for physical activity and connection, we are investing in the development of two mini-pitches – small soccer fields available for public use in Cambridge and Framingham. These are part U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Safe Places to Play program, which transforms and revitalizes under-served areas into state-of-the-art places to play soccer. For us, this is about investing in spaces where the next generation can play and chase their own dreams long after the final whistle blows.
We’re also leveraging this historic moment to support small, local businesses, because what better way to honor the 250th than to support the companies that keep America growing. The relationships we are building now will help position these small business owners for future contracting with Sanofi.
Through the Civic 250 Collective, over 500 employees raised their hands to represent our company during one of the most watched events on the planet — and during a milestone year for America. They're serving as Official World Cup volunteers, supporting our community activations, and volunteering at the 4th of July Boston Pops celebration. This is Volunteerism 2.0 — a new platform to innovate how we show up for our communities during America's semiquincentennial and beyond. When I see our employees mentoring kids, supporting local nonprofits, or helping families navigate resources, that's what showing up as a neighbor looks like. Service isn't just a program for us — it's in our DNA.

An AI-powered sports activation by Sanofi at Boston’s Fan Fest blends digital health innovation with immersive gameplay. Participants use 3D motion sensors to step onto a virtual pitch, take their best shot to knock out viruses, track speed and score, and engage with interactive public health trivia – showcasing science, prevention, and human potential in action.
Q: What does this moment mean for Sanofi's future in Massachusetts?
Tanisha: This is about declaring our commitment to the next 250 years, not just celebrating the past 50. The biotech revolution that began in Cambridge isn't finished; it's accelerating. For me, chasing the miracles of science is not accepting our healthcare system as it is, but imagining what it can be, being relentless in our pursuit of what is possible, and not stopping until we deliver for patients…in all communities. It's a constant drive for innovation, not just for innovation's sake, but for the patients who are waiting, for the communities that are waiting.
Our scientists are working today on breakthroughs that will define the future of medicine, and Boston remains at the heart of that mission. We're remaining focused on showing up in a powerful way to help deliver on the healthcare system that we all deserve. That's our commitment for generations to come.
