
General Counsel North America and Head of Legal Specialty Care GBU
Michael Hulka leads Sanofi's integrated legal team supporting the company in the U.S. and Canada and its global Specialty Care business unit, spanning immunology, neurology, oncology, rare diseases and rare blood disorders. He partners with commercial, R&D and public affairs leadership to advance Sanofi's mission of chasing the miracles of science to improve people's lives, while overseeing the company's most significant litigation, regulatory and public policy matters in the region.
Michael joined Sanofi in 2026 after 18 years at Eli Lilly and Company, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. In this role, he led legal teams supporting Lilly's global therapeutic area business units in cardiometabolic health, oncology, immunology and neuroscience, and served as General Counsel of Lilly USA, counseling on commercial business, FDA compliance, market access and drug-pricing public policy. His experience also included leading affiliate legal teams across multiple international markets.
Before joining Lilly, Michael was a litigator at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago, IL, and Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Indianapolis, IN. He clerked for Judge Michael S. Kanne of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Michael earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Indiana University — Bloomington, Maurer School of Law and his B.A. from Indiana University — Bloomington.
