Community of Practice

Problems facing patients today are too big for any one organization to solve. This is why Sanofi formed a Community of Practice in 2023 for patient advocacy groups to connect, share pragmatic insights, and learn from each other to accelerate their impact for patients. This community has grown to more than 140 organizations and 250 individuals who participate in quarterly webinars. In 2024, topics included Generative AI, Setting Meaningful & Measurable Goals, Creating a Culture of Measurement, and Effective Storytelling & Visualization for Impact. In 2025, the CoP introduced a new Hot Topics in Public Health series, beginning with a session on The Power of Prevention, focusing on vaccine confidence, sharing tools to support informed decision-making, and exploring ways advocacy organizations can engage communities around immunization.

Hot Topics in Public Health: Community Advocacy in Action
The session highlighted how community-centered models can strengthen prevention, early screening, and equitable access to care. Speakers from the Milken Institute’s Project Prevent and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing’s Neighborhood Nursing shared practical approaches for embedding trusted partnerships, nurses, and community health workers into local settings to improve outcomes and build trust. Participants also exchanged real-world examples reinforcing the critical role of community advocacy in driving meaningful and lasting public health impact.

Hot Topics in Public Health: The Future of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force
Explored how policy developments could shape the future of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and influence access to preventive services. Experts from Avalere Health outlined USPSTF’s role in determining coverage, while advocacy leaders from ACS CAN and Breakthrough T1D highlighted the impact on cancer and diabetes screening and the importance of unified advocacy. Participants gained clarity on stalled recommendations, potential federal reorganization, and opportunities to engage in protecting equitable access to essential preventive care.
